Our ambition: we use energy and mobility efficiently, work to reduce our carbon emissions, and support the use and expansion of renewable energy technologies.
This means:
— Renewable energies in agriculture and processes
— Energy-efficiency measures and CO2 reduction
— Investments assessed in terms of their lifetime energy running costs
— Efficient driving of HGVs (eco-drive)
— Maintaining the quota of goods transported by rail and our own rail infrastructure
— Optimising transport through route planning and environmental standards for vehicles
Why energy and climate are important
By now, the effects of greenhouse gas emissions on our climate are well known. Long-term climate change (warming, melting glaciers, impact on the water balance, changes to the suitability of farmland for specific crops, etc.) and short-term weather events (high temperatures, regional water shortages, extreme weather events, etc.) both have a direct influence on all areas of agriculture.
Our goals
We measure our sustainability performance through 14 goals. The goals in relation to energy and climate can be found here.
