The Agricultural Emergency and Hardship Fund enables us to provide straightforward support to farmers who are left facing economic hardship as a result of damage, loss or accident.

Our Agricultural Emergency and Hardship Fund has been providing rapid, straightforward assistance to agricultural enterprises facing economic hardship as a result of damage by natural forces, accidents or other adverse events since 2015. For example, it steps in following a severe storm, like the one in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 2023, when extreme weather caused major damage to many agricultural enterprises. The emergency fund also helps out after farm or barn fires. These make up two-thirds of all claims. The fund is equally quick to respond when an accident has fatal results or animals are lost to bacterial infection. Financial aid can only be granted if the local LANDI agrees to pay a share: it must provide one-third of the promised total amount; fenaco then contributes the remaining two-thirds from the emergency fund.
